Diego Mancini sembra avere tutto. A solo quarant’anni è professore ordinario di cardiochirurgia e in procinto di sposarsi con Elena, con cui ha già una famiglia. Ma la felicità è fragile. E anche una vita così perfetta ha un difetto che la incrina: la cardiopatia di Paolo. L’unica speranza di salvarlo è un trapianto per cui il bambino è in lista da mesi. Quello con un figlio è un legame profondo, un vincolo totalizzante che può portare a scelte sbagliate, a tradire ogni principio, persino il giuramento sotteso alla professione medica. Salvare Paolo a tutti i costi diventa per Diego la priorità assoluta e lo fa scivolare in un vortice di ricatti e compromessi che lo porteranno a diventare il medico di un boss latitante e a mettere in pericolo la famiglia che voleva salvare. Diego Mancini seems to have it all. At the age of forty he is full professor of cardiac surgery and about to marry Elena, with whom he already has a family. But happiness is fragile.
