Artemisia Lomi Gentileschi (Rome 1593-Naples 1654). A talented Italian artist, with a strong personality, she is among the first women to establish herself in a purely male world. She was the daughter of the artist Orazio Gentileschi, she is one of the leading exponents of seventeenth-century Italian painting, deeply influenced by Caravaggio. After an episode of violence that marked her life, she was a successful artist in Cosimi II’s Florence and in London at the court of Charles I. Many of her patrons, including Philip IV of Spain. This book is a collection of her life and incredible paintings.
